Taxonomy is vital to understanding how the broader vertical of
Digital Healthcare separates into areas of focus; and ultimately into applications, companies and relevance to patients and practitioners. We tried several alternative characterizations and found none to be perfect, but some more useful than others.
We chose to focus on the themes for digital applications as the top level domain rather than the technologies. The technologies are crucial and empowering, but technology changes whereas the problems addressed tend to linger. Put another way, “Who” and “Why” are fairly well fixed, but “How” has been demonstrably malleable.
